A space designed to see time pass slowly

Inspired by cabins in the Norwegian mountains, using Japanese design cues and a minimalist philosophy.

Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese design, the two bedroom, one bathroom cabin embraces an open-concept floor plan. The main living space is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and is centered around a rotating wood stove that provides 360-degree access to the fire. Every piece in the interior is carefully selected to focus on the importance of nature. Check-in and gaze at the mountains, unwind with a book, listen to the sounds of the forest and cook to the calming crackling of the fireplace. wake up to light seeping through wooden shutters, which are adjustable from the exterior of the house to achieve the desired privacy and light allowed into the space.

Down the steps and into the woods, hinterhouse has a private spa area with a floor-to-ceiling windowed sauna available all year round and an ice-cold shower available from May to October.

Perfect for 1-2 couples or a small family who appreciate design, a quiet space or a romantic getaway. hinter’s intention is to create beautiful spaces to rent that are hidden in the woods and help people escape from the hustle and bustle of the city to reconnect with nature.

Featured in Dwell, Dezeen, Enki Magazine, and more, hinterhouse was a Building of the Year nominee by Arch Daily in 2021 and the winner of the “Prix d’excellence en architecture” under the private dwellings category given by the Order of Architects of Quebec.
