Corcovado Wilderness Lodge

Place:

Drake Bay, Costa Rica

Placemakers:

Ethos:

Unparalleled access to the most biodiverse rainforest on Earth.

Deep in one of the last low-lying tropical rainforests on the planet, a luxurious eco-lodge sits above a palm-fringed beach beside 250,000 acres of Costa Rican National Forest.

Corcovado Wilderness Lodge – accessible only by boat – is a 189-acre property housing 30 luxury accommodations. Meticulously designed by an American naturalist, the rooms are crafted in harmony with the surrounding landscape; as an organic extension of the environment, every dwelling blurs the line between indoor and outdoor.

Stay in one of ten secluded treehouses perched high on a bluff over the ocean, offering views of whales dancing in the waters below, or opt for one of 20 rainforest villas, each with an outdoor shower surrounded by a symphony of exotic birds. Either way, rooms are elegantly appointed with comfortable interiors and enchanting garden spaces.

Tucked into the southwestern corner of Costa Rica on the infamous Osa Peninsula, the Lodge offers direct access to one of the most biodiverse places on earth: Corcovado National Park. Often celebrated as the home to hundreds of species of wildlife, the Park is made up of 13 distinct ecosystems to explore by hike, expedition, or horseback ride. A second national park – Caño Island – offers pristine clear waters for snorkeling, scuba diving, or sea kayaking.

After long days of exploration, the on-property spa provides a unique opportunity to rejuvenate mind, body, and soul with outdoor massages, facials, and reflexology amongst stunning views that enhance relaxation.

Given the location, conservation is a central ethos of the lodge: their restaurant runs on a zero-waste concept, with menu items handcrafted at on-site gardens and local farms where sustainable farming practices are a way of life. With multiple environmental partnerships, a percentage of every reservation is funneled back into the local community to ensure the space makes a positive impact for future generations to come.
