A cultural immersion in the stunningly unspoiled mountainside of Bhutan

Just fifty years ago, the small but mighty Kingdom of Bhutan – Land of the Thunder Dragon – opened its borders to foreign tourists. Less traversed than its well-known Himalayan neighbors, it remains one of the most stunningly undiscovered countries in the world.

Perched high in the Neyphu Valley, Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary is an embodiment of the unique culture and landscape of its namesake country – and a sanctuary it is. As the first and only five-star wellness-inclusive resort in Bhutan, every stay integrates Traditional Bhutanese Medicine for a cultural immersion like no other.

The 24-room property was built according to dzong architecture principles: towering exterior walls give way to a stunning inner courtyard. Rooms are elegantly decorated and offer sweeping views of the surrounding valley; scenes of snow-capped mountains amongst misty rice fields can be glimpsed from balconies.
Exploration awaits in the Neyphu Valley, with a short hike to the Eutok Goenpad Monastery, or a guided trek to the world-famous Tiger’s Nest: a Buddhist monastery high in the mountains of the Paro Valley. Long days of hiking are best capped with a signature wellness treatment, ranging from herbal hot stone bath to Ku Nye massage, or a soak in the heated infinity pool surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass doors.

Visits here include a private consultation with the Sanctuary’s in-house Traditional Medicine Doctor for an individualized wellness program during your stay. On-site tours offer education on the 60+ Bhutanese herbs used in treatments, many of which grow on-property. Every stay invites balance for body, mind, and spirit, the Bhutanese way.
