Tumbling River Ranch’s location in the heart of Pike National Forest offers access to millions of acres of breathtaking scenery perfect for exploring on horseback.
Guests visiting during the summer season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) can enjoy equestrian opportunities based on availability.
All guests are required to complete an orientation with our wranglers, and rides are arranged based on guest experience, fitness levels, and horse availability.

Orientation Clinic
Kickstart your week with us as our skilled wranglers host a riding clinic, offering guests fundamental horseback riding skills and knowledge.
Following the clinic, immerse yourself in a brief yet enchanting ride into the mountains, providing a splendid introduction to experiencing rides at an elevation of 9,200 feet.
In order to create the most safe and unique guest riding experience, all guests ages 8+ must complete an orientation with our wranglers before riding. Horses may be limited based on guest height, weight, and riding experience. All rides and orientations are at the discretion of the wrangler team to ensure horse and rider safety.
For our younger adventurers, ages 6 – 8, we provide the opportunity to join trail rides around the ranch, each hand-guided by a dedicated wrangler. Meanwhile, pony rides are available for children ages 3 – 5.
Trail Rides
Trail rides may be limited based on guest experience and fitness levels as well as horse availability at the discretion of the wranglers. Guests are not guaranteed a ride each day of their stay. Additional rides may be available to book at an additional cost based on availability.
Equestrian Clinics
Even if you’re not up for a trail ride, Tumbling River Ranch invites you to immerse yourself in the essence of Western horse culture. Our horse clinics offer a rare opportunity to get hands-on experience with our horses, learning about the connection we share with horses. Guests of all ages can participate in brushing and caring for our horses, learning the importance of the tack and equipment, and understanding what makes each horse unique.
With guidance from our expert wranglers, you’ll discover the rich traditions behind Western horsemanship and the deep respect for these incredible animals that defines life out here. These clinics provide a way to connect with the land and the horses that call it home, offering an unforgettable experience—even for those who prefer to keep their boots on the ground.
