JAMES OLSON
Manager, Development & Feasibility
James gained an affinity for travel from an early age, as he split his childhood years between Los Angeles and Tokyo, Japan. During this time he was fortunate to have travelled throughout Asia, visiting places like Angkor Wat and Guilin and gaining a firm appreciation for hotels and hospitality. James worked in operations roles at hotels in Japan, China, and Beverly Hills, before attaining his master’s degree in hospitality from the Hotel School at Cornell University. Thereafter, he worked as a consultant at CBRE Hotels Advisory, and conducted market demand studies, valuation analyses, fiscal and economic impact analyses, repositioning strategies, and litigation support for hotel projects ranging from limited service to ultra luxury service levels. James is happiest when he’s outdoors, and is excited to combine his passions for nature and hospitality working at Collective Retreats.
FAVORITE TRAVEL RITUAL:
To carve out ten minutes in the morning to meditate when traveling for pleasure – it accelerates the transition into “vacation mode” and keeps me present.
