A Message from Our CEO

When I founded Collective Retreats, I’d loved being a part of the hotel industry for more than a decade, but I was also becoming disenchanted with what I was seeing. Where the industry was once about the magic of travel, it became about heads in beds. Care for people, the community, and the environment had gone by the wayside. I missed the soul of hospitality that had gotten me into it in the first place. I believed that hotels could – and should – be places to connect and explore. Collective Retreats was born out of that drive to create a better and more inspiring travel experience.

Ten years later, it’s an amazing time for Collective Retreats and nature-based hospitality. We marked one year as a B Corp and public benefit corporation, our formal commitments to transparently conducting our business in a way that creates a better world. We’re delivering on the commitments we made to prioritize people, the planet, and purpose in all aspects of our operations from our team to our retreats to our communities.

I’m energized by the progress we’ve made on Collective Retreats’ mission. I also know we’re on the clock if we’re going to change the environmental and climate crisis path that we’re on. We are all responsible for being part of solutions, and I’m excited to use our Collective voice to advocate for systemic and policy changes that protect, sustain and promote equitable access to our public lands.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s make 2024 our most impactful year yet.

Collective Retreats is proud to be the first and largest outdoor hospitality brand and the only luxury travel brand to receive certified B Corp status.

Our Pillars

We believe in the power of sustainable practices and educating others to safeguard the environment and local cultures. We are dedicated to proactively protecting our planet together with our partners and guests.

We call this approach Collective Good—a commitment to using all the tools of our business to be social and environmental stewards, protecting and nurturing the places we inhabit and encouraging our guests to join us. We do this through our team, our retreats, and our communities.

Each pillar of our Collective Good commitment aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that we can support. The Sustainable Development Goals are designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. By intentionally linking our work at Collective Retreats to the UN’s SDGs, we connect with a global effort to create a better, brighter future for our world.

Looking Ahead

We look to all businesses to do their part and take steps to stop the environmental crisis we face.

For our part, Collective Retreats will move with even greater urgency to engage our team, guests, partners and broader stakeholders in protecting, nurturing and ensuring equal access to the places we inhabit. We will hold ourselves accountable for delivering on our commitments and will transparently communicate our progress so others may hold us accountable as well.

We will set ambitious annual sustainability targets that put us on track to achieve our long-term reduction goals. We will evolve our measures to maximize our positive impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and local economies. We aim to scale our civic engagement and partnerships across our footprint to to foster stewardship of our planet, promote the health and wellness benefits of outdoor education, and break down barriers to outdoor access. We will use our Collective voice to advocate for systemic change and support positive sustainability, accessibility, and economic vitality policies at the local, state and federal levels.

We are energized by building a better, brighter future together for the Collective Good.
